Who We Are

About Us

Interaction Disability Services is a not-for-profit, NDIS-registered organisation committed to supporting and empowering people with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS).

Interaction provides speciality support for people with PWS. In 1992, Interaction established Australia’s first accommodation model specifically for three adults with PWS. In 1993, this residential model was recognised by the International Prader-Willi Syndrome Organisation as best practice for individuals with PWS.  Over time, and as a result of regular consultation and extensive training with PWS professionals both locally and internationally, our services and supports concept has developed and expanded. Interaction is a best-practice provider of supports for people with PWS in Australia.

We take a great deal of pride in sharing our knowledge and connecting you with leading experts in PWS.

Our Beginnings

We were founded in 1979 by a group of parents with a plan for their children with disability to integrate into the community and transition into independent living. Early efforts focused on the transition from the family home into an intensive skill development program supported by families and volunteers. Empowering people through education and community networks, people were then transitioned to independent accommodation with minimal assistance. Over the last 40 years, we’ve built on their vision and have expanded to support more than 550 families and individuals annually.

What We Do

Interaction provides the following supports to children, adults and their families.

  • Accommodation
  • Support Coordination
  • Community Access and Self Care
  • Behaviour and Allied Health Services

Drawing on many years of expertise, we tailor our supports and services to people with PWS. We value diversity, and understand that no two people are the same. This is why we work closely with you to build flexible and practical supports that meet your individual needs.
